Calculating the Size of your Chrome Decal and Sticker
Length x Width = Number of Square Inches. For example, if you have a decal that is 3” x 5” simply multiply 3 x 5 = 15 square inches.
Chrome Decals and Stickers
There are four types of sticker chrome decals: mirror silver, brushed silver, mirror gold, and brushed gold. The chrome material comes in both rolls and sheets, and so it can either be plotter cut to create logos and letters for vehicles, or it can be printed as in branding labels to mark equipment or products.
If your graphics are place on equipment that’s used in an industrial environment, you may want to consider adding a polyester or vinyl over-laminate to protect them as they do tend to show scratches easily.
Overlaminates
What lamination is for is mostly a protectant against abrasion prevention. If, for instance, a sticker or decal will be used in an area where it may be brushed up against, such as on the side of an escalator or elevator, an overlaminate will prevent ink from rubbing off earlier than normal.
Another reason for protection is for keypad decals that get a LOT of usage, but rather than using a laminate, polycarbonate decal material, usually 10 or 15 mils in thickness, is printed second surface and then an adhesive is laminated behind the ink, creating a durable subsurface printed decal that can handle a lot of contact over time, such as on a calculator or a kitchen appliance.
Back-Adhesive
1. Semi-Permanent Adhesive
If you’re looking for a decal that is going to go the distance, this excellent adhesive is superior in that it won’t permit your decal fall off of any item that you stick it on. The only caveat to that is if there is excessive continuous heat near these die cut stickers and decals, or if there is an issue of rust or other contaminants underneath the original surface they were applied to.
2. Easy-Peel Adhesive
Easy-peel adhesive graphics usually are, typically, as their name suggests, easy to remove. Regardless, in the event the adhesive is subjected to the elements for more than a year, the acrylic adhesive becomes solid and thus gets more and more difficult to take off, but as with the previous semi-permanent type, heat from a heat gun or hair dryer will help.
