Permanent adhesives or removable? That is the question.
As you drive on the highways and through the towns of the USA, one thing that you will notice is that almost every vehicle has car advertising decals or car advertising stickers on it promoting something, whether it be graphics with a political message or telling which university the owner went to or how many family members and pets are in the vehicle owner’s family!
How to Choose the Right Car Advertising Stickers, Decals, or Labels for Your Targeted Client Base
Adhesive and Non-Adhesive Types of Car Stickers and Decals
There are several materials and adhesives (or non-adhesive) printers have available for printing on. The list below should help you decide what kind you would like if you’re planning to order some custom car graphics for your promotion or organization.
Non-adhesive Types
Magnetic Graphics
Magnetic materials are great that you want to remove daily. Examples of this would be a pizza delivery driver or a contractor who needs vehicle marking when on site, but doesn’t necessarily want identified in traffic if he’s a particularly aggressive driver. Negatives: If left on too long without removing to allow moisture to escape, rust can develop beneath the auto paint; can blow off vehicles, especially cheaper materials.
Static clings
Static cling is a PVC flexible sheet material with added plasticizers to make it very soft and sticky, but with no adhesives. This popular sticker decal material can be applied and removed easily (although you need to make sure your window is squeeky clean). Many car owners will only use these car advertising decals, so you may want to keep this in mind when determining what types of materials to order. Negatives: cannot be used on the outside of a car as it will blow off when driving.
Adhesive Types
Semi-permanent Adhesive
This adhesive is great in that it won’t let your decal peel off, if the vinyl or polyester it’s printed on is good quality. Negatives: While these car advertising stickers can be difficult to remove, especially after a year, semi-permanent adhesive can be heated with a heat gun or hair dryer to aid in removal from a car window, or peeled with the help of a razor scraper.
Removable Adhesive
Removable adhesive types are, well, like the name says, removable. However, after the glue has been exposed to the elements for over a year, that it hardens and gets more difficult to remove, but heat helps. Negatives: Adhesive hardens over time.
Target market considerations for purchasing advertising displays to promote your event or business
When considering one of the previous car advertising decals or car advertising stickers, you’ll want to take your potential market into consideration. Do they drive pickup trucks or Aston-Martins. Blue collar guys are usually less concerned about removal than some others as they know how to get them off because they learned it from their Dads. If the white collar crowd is your market, the static clings might be a better choice.
