Banners to Use for Your Trade Show Booth
Dye Sublimation Fabric Banners
Another polymer-based banner material is polyester, which is a woven fabric. It is the same type of material, with improvements, that your granddaddy used to wear suits made of. Like I said, though, improvements have been made to the materials so that now you can get anything from smooth poly knits to poly silks, poly flags, and sheer fabrics for almost any event, indoor or out.
Dye sublimation printing permanently infuses the poly fabric with color during the print process so that you can send these banners through the washer without color loss. Sublimation simply means that the dyes convert from a solid state to a gaseous state, although never becoming liquid. The process was developed to be able to transfer photographs and highly intricate designs onto fabric or cloth.
Note that if you use fabric banners or graphics for your booth, you will be separating yourself from the competition who may be using cheaper graphics, thus making themselves look cheap. No one wants a cheap company – just a cheap price with great services or products.
The difference between most printing and dye sublimation fabric printing is that most printing, including screen printing, and all types of digital printing, use a dot pattern to create color, whereas dye sublimation cloth printing has a continuous tone, just like pictures that you get developed from your camera.
If you are at a competitive trade show, or similar, and your competitors have some nice graphics on vinyl or the like, and you show up with your continuous tone printed fabric display, you are going to win the subliminal war. Face it, if your display looks rich, and theirs looks middle-class, they’ll get some clients, maybe lots, but you’ll land the best clients at better margins.
Vinyl Banners
There are several weights available, the most common being (at least in our shop) 10 oz., 13 oz., 15 oz., and 18 oz. The ounces refers to the weight of the banner per square yard of material. The heavier the weight, the more durable, although installation methods are often of utmost importance in the life of any outdoor vinyl banner.
Banner weights vary and are based on ounces per square foot or on grams per square meter, depending on where you are or where the material is manufactured. The nylon threading that the fiber is wrapped around may vary in size and closeness together, the flexibility of the material can vary, but PVC is polyvinyl chloride, and it doesn’t change its chemical composition.
Trade Show Display Banner Care
Dye Sub Fabric Banners
If the banners are small enough to fit in a washer, and I didn’t mention that a rotary washer is superior to an agitator-type washer, then this will be the easiest way to wash your banners. . No matter which route you take, make sure your detergent is tough against grease.
Once you’ve washed your dye sub cloth banners, the best practice is to hang them up to dry. If you don’t have this option, and they’ll fit in a dryer, go ahead and dry them that way. Make sure you don’t leave them in the dryer once it stops, as it’ll create wrinkly banners, and it’s not a lot of fun ironing them out.
Once the fabric banner has dried, you can also use an iron on low heat to iron out any wrinkles that may have occurred in the drying process. Now you have a bright and clean banner to hang up at your next trade show!
Vinyl Banners
We always advise our clients to never fold their vinyl banners, because they will wrinkle, and the wrinkles may or may not be removable. Always roll your banners, and preferably on a hard cardboard or plastic tube core so that it won’t be crushed or folded.
Vinyl banners are made using a loosely woven nylon fabric, which is encased in hot PVC vinyl. Once it cools, it is trimmed and rolled onto larger rolls, typically 50 yard or meter rolls, and shipped to distributors world wide. You’ll note that the vinyl banner material is not folded, but rolled, because vinyl banner material was not made to be folded.
They are great because they don’t cost much money to produce. They can be easily customized using advanced print technology and durable, custom or Pantone® colors, which are patented to be consistent and true from printer to printer. They are also easy to transport because they are lightweight and flexible.
Just roll it up or take it down, compressed into a very small package which is very easy to transport. Anyone can easily do the set up and take down when the event is over. All he or she need to do is place the rolled or folded banner into a shoulder bag and be on her way.
